The Ride Home From Church - 2237 Words

The ride home from church wasn’t much different from any other day. My mom was lecturing me about sports. This time it was about soccer. We would be starting games this week and my mom was worried, just like she usually is. â€Å"Are you sure you want to keep doing this?† She annoyingly asked me. I had gotten used to this because of the countless times before that she asked it â€Å"There are so many other things you could do with yourself. You are in band, clubs, and have some amazing grades. You don’t have to do this.† â€Å"Please stop.† I said to her, like I normally would. â€Å"I wish you could just do something safer, Gab. Especially after last year.† At this point I’ve heard all of it before and I had enough of it. I looked out the window, ignoring every word she said after that. Finally she decided it would be best if she left me alone. She must have finally come to her senses and realized that I wasn’t going to change my mind. My eyes start to water slightly, â€Å"You taught me never give up and I never will. We can’t believing that something bad is going to happen. We have to have faith that everything will okay now. Anyway, you know how much I’ve worked this. I’m finally where I want to be and I can’t let go now. I already lost cheer.† My mom nods, choking on the words she wishes to say.
